In a 2003 Trends in International Math and Science Survey (TIMSS is conducted every four years), the Philippines ranked 42nd among 45 countries for high school students and 23rd among 25 countries for grade school students.  With Ajinomoto celebrating its 100th year anniversary in 2009, the premier food company recently became one of the biggest donors of The Mind Museum, a flagship project for the Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc. (BAFI).  Considered to be the first of its kind in the country, this world-class science museum will soon rise at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.  This learning institution with Ajinomoto’s support aims to uplift the educational level of Filipino students especially in the realm of science.

Ajinomoto Group (Tokyo, Japan) Vice-President Takashi Nagamachi emphasized that, “representing our commitment as a corporation to The Mind Museum of the Bonifacio Art Foundation, is important not only for the development and betterment of children by the education of science, but also for Ajinomoto Corporation”.

Nagamachi further noted that “Ajinomoto’s core guiding principle as a corporation is to contribute significant advances in food and health on a global basis, and ultimately to create a better life for all.  This contribution is one way of upholding this principle and so very timely because in 2009, Ajinomoto celebrates its 100 year anniversary”.

The distinguished visitor from Japan likewise made mention of Ajinomoto’s heritage for future generations. “Besides our well known products, The Mind Museum and our endowment to the education of science in the Philippines is an important legacy for Ajinomoto,” Nagamachi enthused.

For his part, Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation’s newly-appointed President Katsuaki Ogawa replied that, “Ajinomoto Philippines pledges our support, not only to the development of The Mind Museum, but also to the education of amino sciences in the Philippines. We are very privileged to have this opportunity to give back to Philippine society just as the Philippines have contributed to us,” Ogawa noted. “As we enter our next 50 years, we at Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation pledge to continue to provide the best quality, safest, and highest value food products which are affordable for all in order to bring taste to life for all Pinoys,” he concluded.
